MEET ANA

My name is Anna, I am a wedding and events planner from Ukraine. My daughter Masha and I left Kyiv in March. First we arrived in Spain and stayed with a wonderful family that we met through the Ukraine Take Shelter website. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions and the language barrier, I could not find employment in Spain. When the Uniting for Ukraine program began we decided to come to the US. 

Since the beginning of the invasion my husband has stayed behind in Kyiv, first as a civilian volunteer and now as a member of the Armed Forces.

Our arrival to the US was sponsored by an individual in Florida. He quickly connected us to his step-daughter living in New York City who both spoke Ukrainian and also had a community of friends that were committed to helping me and my daughter succeed during our time here.

With the help of an amazing community and UHF, Ana has a place to call home for the next 12 months.
